The Hart Cafe - Hartington Rd, Stockton

banner.fw_.fw_.png

This café was established to support people at risk of homelessness, who are residents in hostels in Stockton. Through the delivery outreach cooking sessions, and Level 2 accredited qualifications a need was established with our supported housing partner, to create a safe non-clinical space where residents could volunteer to help provide a nutritious home-cooked meal in a community setting,  Recent and ongoing funding from Party Decor 4 You has ensured meals were produced throughout Covid lockdown and will continue thanks to their support.

October and November saw a continued 5-day service. From December, we have reduced this to 3 days a week and delivered Christmas dinner on Christmas day along with 60 health and wellbeing gift bags for the residents of the street.

We are continuing to fund the service through New Walk funding, Comic relief funding and The National Lottery.  We had developed the garden during the summer and have tables and canopies for when the café can safely re-open.

Fun, Friendship and Food Cafe

The Food, Fun and Friendship Lunch Club has been running for 3 years, previously funded bt CCG and now partly funded by The National Lottery, the lunch club has shown to be invaluable to our clients, by providing a 2 course, nutritious, home-cooked meal whilst helping to relieve loneliness and helping to prolong independence by providing a place for older residents to meet together and socialise. We run a quiz and invite guests to entertain our customers. Our lovely group especially enjoy it when we invite local school children we have worked with to come in and sing/play for the group, help serve the meal and sit and chat with everyone. We have 30 places available, and we can produce extra meals that may be taken home and used later that week.

The Good Mood Food Cafe

The Good Mood Café in Billingham supports people who have low-level mental health and anxiety issues and has been developed to combine good mood food cooking, promoting positive health and wellbeing alongside a holistic wellbeing activity.

Since this time we have established the Good Mood Food Café with two Little Sprouts staff working with up to 4 volunteers in the kitchen area and 2 staff delivering the cooking and wellbeing activity.  Each group we work with would like the opportunity to volunteer in the café where they feel safe and have made weekly progress on mental health; however, we are unable to pursue this.

The Shaw Trust

The Shaw Trust supports adults with learning disabilities with work experience at their horticultural site in Stockton on Tees and provides routes to volunteering and employability. Having delivered outreach workshops and accredited Level 2 qualifications, our courses increased skills and confidence with participants. In collaboration with Shaw Trust, we have supported the opening of their community café at their horticultural site, intending to provide a community venue, café training facility, and volunteer opportunities for Shaw Trust participants.
